Master Bedroom Update

July 31st, 2012 | Posted by Erin in decorating

Finally, we’ve moved our master bedroom to the “real” master upstairs!  It’s much larger, and best of all, it has two closets that are each twice as big as what we had in the guest bedroom!  YAY!

I actually said I wasn’t going to share these photos in blog-land yet… because the room is very much not finished.  But I have a feeling it might get stuck here for a while, since most of our attention is on the bathroom at the moment.  So please look beyond the unfinished parts :)

(The mirror in the picture above will go on the wall directly above where it’s sitting.)

Obviously there are quite a few things that need to be updated still – namely, the floors, closet doors, curtains, and rug :)  I’m still playing around with other things like pillows as well.  But it’s clean, painted, organized, and we’re very happy to be upstairs!

Cute! This is way more fun than HGTV!

It’s lovely Erin! Will you redo your floors upstairs as well? and I love the space…sooo roomy. Much better color too! =)

  • Wow…it’s awesome. I love the ceiling :) I know, you didn’t highlight this lovely feature but I know it’s there…I saw the slope in the mirror. I love the shelf on the “sloped” wall. I agree with Gretchen, way more fun than HGTV. This room has a very light and airy feel to it.

    • ok..i’m a dork! of course you highlighted it in the first pic and I totally didn’t see it. but then I saw it in the mirror. go figure. i see details and not the big honk’n obvious things.

  • I’m confused by the pictures that don’t include the closet. They don’t seem to be of the same corner of the room. The window plus the wall that comes out into the room. Did you knock out a wall?

You caught me :) It’s just from a different angle, the window is the connection b/w the two pics. The original angle didn’t show the bed or anything, so it looked dumb as a before and after. And I couldn’t exactly go back and take another before picture :) So, oh well!

Hi – I love the before and after pics. So inspiring! What color white do you use on your trim? Is it the same color that you used on your kitchen cabinets? What about the kitchen floor color? I’m planning to paint a bunch of cabinets and I’m looking for the perfect white! Thanks!

Hi Amanda! The white we used (trim and cabinets) is actually just the base color at Sherwin Williams, so no mixing required. Just buy it off the shelf! It’s really a true crisp white, with no blue or yellow undertones at all. We use their Duration quality paint in semi-gloss. I would definitely recommend priming first so that you don’t need as many coats – even still, I did at least two coats. The floor paint is from Lowes, it’s the valspar brand gray floor and porch paint. It’s off the shelf, also. I think it only comes in gray and an off-white.

I hope that helps – good luck with your projects!!!
